2 Held for Molesting Woman, Get Bail

BENGALURU: Two men, arrested by the Cubbon Park police for molesting a woman, were granted bail on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep Manbudkar (32) and Tek Bahadur Shahi (32).

The incident took place around 11 pm on Monday in Church Street. The woman, aged 26, was crossing the road when one of the men touched her inappropriately.

“Three girls were crossing the road to catch an auto. Two persons were walking behind them. One of them molested a girl walking right in front of him and the duo fled the scene. However, beat police were nearby and caught the two men when the girls screamed,” police officers said.

The victim is a student from Delhi. The two accused are from Mumbai. Police have recovered CCTV footage showing the accused molesting the girl.

Bail Plea Rejected

The bail plea of 17 officers of the account section of BBMP office and 12 contractors, was rejected by the 9th ACMM court.

The officers and contractors had forged the signature of BBMP Commissioner Lakshminarayana to sanction the amount of `49.52 crore to a few contractors. Some of the officers involved in the case are Veera Gowda Patil, chief account officer, Sanjeev Murthy, first division assitant and others, an officer from BBMP said.

The BMTF had filed a case against them. Patil was the first to be arrested, soon after which the others were absconding and and had applied for anticipatory bail. Their bail plea was rejected, the officer said.

Man Dies in Accident

A 36-year-old man died while his wife and two children were severely injured after he rammed his motorcycle into a road median at Bhadrappa Layout near Hebbal on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Lakshmipathi, a resident of Peenya.

Lakshmipathi’s wife Asha and sons Vinay and Rohan have been admitted to a private hospital.

Lakshmipathi was working as a driver with a travel agency.
