Lokayukta Nabs BEO for Taking Bribe

BENGALURU:The Lokayukta police on Tuesday trapped Block Education Officer Hanumantha Pujari when he was accepting a bribe from a woman to block a seat for her daughter in a private school under the Right To Education Act.

Police said the complainant J R Jayasheela had applied for her daughter’s admission in Chaitanya E-Techno School and had submitted an application under RTE at the KR Puram BEO office. Pujari told her that the admission is not possible without a caste certificate and demanded Rs 25,000 to block a seat. He took Rs 4,000 as advance and later was forcing Jayasheela for the remaining amount.

On Monday, she approached the Lokayukta police and filed a case. Based on this, Pujari was trapped and caught red-handed while receiving Rs 20,000.
