BENGALURU:The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is making all preparations to ensure that the immersion of Ganesha idols in the civic body limits is carried out without a hitch. The immersion will take place in various lakes and tanks, including Sankey Tank, Ulsoor and Yediyur lakes.

On Saturday, BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik held a meeting with zonal commissioners and other officials to review the progress of Ganesha Chaturthi preparations. Preparations for the festival have been taken up at the zonal level.

In localities where there is no lake or tank, mobile tanks will be stationed at important junctions so that the public can immerse the idols.

At each of the lakes and tanks where immersion will be carried out, 10 life guards will be stationed, apart from adequate placement of barricades and banners. Pourakarmikas will also be present to clear the waste.

Naik said that immersion of idols will not be allowed after 11 pm. He has also requested the public to immerse idols at designated locations.
