Drunk Men Assault Constable

BENGALURU: A police constable was brutally assaulted by three drunk men at Benniganahalli in Ramamurthy Nagar on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Pundeleeka, 25, a constable attached to Ramamurthy Nagar police station, was attacked by three people with bottles when he asked them not to consume alcohol inside a park. Around 10 pm, the constable finished his duty and was on his way home. He had stopped for tea at a shop when a few passersby approached him and told him that three people were drinking in a park.

Pundeleeka went to the park and asked the trio not to drink there and to leave the place. The three men who were in an inebriated state attacked the constable with the liquor bottles. Some people who heard the commotion rushed to the spot and alerted the police.

Meanwhile, the trio fled the spot. The police took Pundeleeka to a hospital. The constable suffered minor injuries and is out of danger, said the police.

A case has been registered in Ramamurthy Nagar police station and the accused are at large.
