BENGALURU: Tension prevailed on the busy highway at Nelamangala town after a mob pelted stones at a private bus after it fatally knocked down a man on Tuesday. Traffic was thrown out of gear for a while near the Navayuga toll booth for a while.
The deceased Venkataramana alias Venkatesh (37) from Pavagada in Tumakuru district was employed with a private company.
According to the police, at 5.30 pm, Venkataramana was crossing the road when a bus belonging to VRL Travels (KA, 25 B-6658) knocked him down, killing him on the spot. The bus was being driven recklessly, police said.
The driver sustained minor injuries and fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind. The bus was coming to the city from Tumakuru.
Nelamangala Town police rushed to the spot and defused the situation.
