Warrant Against Rangayana Director

BENGALURU:The 23rd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant against Ikbal Ahamed, Director of Rangayana, Shivamogga, in connection with a cheque bounce case.

The warrant was issued as Ahamed has failed to appear before the court despite summons being issued on many occasions.

According to sources, Ikbal had obtained a loan of `5.26 lakh from one Basavaraj D S, who is an employee with a software company in the city, eight years ago and did not return it.

The cheque issued by Ahamed to Basavaraj, a resident of Girinagar in city, had bounced.

SIT Arrests Miner

The Special Investigating Team (SIT) on Monday arrested Swastik Nagaraj, a miner from Hospet in Ballari district.

SIT IGP Charan Reddy told Express that Swastik Nagaraj had exported around 19,000 metric tonnes iron ore illegally. Hence he was arrested in the city on Monday. The accused was produced before the Lokayukta Special Court which remanded him to custody till September 24, he added.  

The SIT is probing the illegal mining based on the report submitted by then Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde.
