Gang of 12 Held for Robbing Trader

BENGALURU:Police have arrested a gang of 12 hailing from Kerala for robbing an entrepreneur after breaking into his flat and threatening his family in Ashoknagar police limits in the city.

The arrested are Jishad, Sahal, Sameer, Fairoz, Santosh, Umar Khan, Thoufiq,  Shahjahan, Siyad R, Basha, Vinod and Shahnavaz Khan.

According to police, Santosh and Umar Khan plotted the robbery believing that the flat owner had a lot of money.  

On September 5, the accused sneaked into Golden Threshold apartment, entered the flat of the entrepreneur and wielding machetes, tied up the occupants before making away with valuables.  Police have recovered `8,500, 15 mobile phones and a Mahindra jeep that was used in the robbery.

A police officer said, “We did not get any physical clues from the crime scene.  Hence, we analysed thousands of mobile phone records from that particular tower during the time of the robbery. We zeroed in on a few suspicious numbers which pointed to Kerala.”

Police then tracked down one of the gang members through the call records that led to the busting of the whole gang.

Siyad faces cases for murder, theft and drug smuggling, Shahajahan for robbery, murder and assault and Vinod for murder and an attempted dacoity case, all registered in Kerala.

Techie Robbed by Three Men

Three unidentified men allegedly assaulted a techie and robbed him in Ramamurthy Nagar police limits on Wednesday morning. According to police officials, the victim Sadanand was on his way to work. The trio assaulted      Sadanand when he tried to resist robbery.  Sadanand’s arm was severely injured and he was admitted to a hospital. Ramamurthy Nagar police have registered a case and are analysing CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the identity of the miscreants.
