Karnataka Government Recommends 30 Names for Padma Awards

BENGALURU:The state government has recommended 30 names to the Union Home Ministry for the prestigious Padma awards.

Dr Shivamurthy Murugharajendra Swami of Murugha Mutt, Chitradurga; lexicographer Prof G Venkatasubbaiah; folk artiste Enagi Balappa; environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka; sportsman Vikas Gowda are among those recommended for the awards.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee, on September 19, wrote to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs recommending the names.

While, two have been recommended for Padma Vibhushan, nine have been recommended for Padma Bhushan and 19 for Padma Shree.
