BENGALURU: The Vijayanagar police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old gym supervisor for allegedly killing a 28-year-old delivery man with an e-commerce major.

The accused Varun Kumar is a resident of Moodalapalya and was working in Axi Gym in Saraswathi Nagar. The deceased Nanjundaswamy of Kaveripura was working with Flipkart at the Byatarayanapura office.

According to police, Varun had ordered for a smart phone from the website on December 8 and had opted for cash on delivery. On December 9, around 12.30 pm, Nanjundaswamy called Varun to specify the location to deliver the phone. Varun asked him to come to the cellar of the building. Upon reaching there, Varun killed him and made away with two mobile phones and `10,000 cash.

Since Nanjundaswamy did not return home and his mobile phone was switched off, his wife Lakshmi filed a missing person’s complaint with Byatarayanapura police. During investigation, police found out that the mobile was last active near the building where the gym is located. On December 12, when police visited the spot, there was foul smell emanating from the basement of the building. When they intensified the search, police found Nanjundaswamy’s body in decomposed state.

They found out that Nanjundaswamy had come to deliver a parcel to Varun and the latter had not reported to the gym since the day of the incident. Later, police took Varun to custody, and during interrogation he confessed to the crime.
