Sit Back, Relax, Download a Chef

BENGALURU: The thought of reaching home after work and cooking yourself a meal may tire you further. Also, how long can you depend on inexperienced cooks and hotel food. But now, you can always enjoy a good meal prepared live by your personal experienced chefs at your home.

Launched in July 2015, Cookifi is where you can hire the services of a chef. You may choose them based on their expertise in different cuisines and feedback from the other customers.

The Cookifi co-founder Ajay Modani says, “When there were parties or some guests coming over, I used to order food from outside. That’s when I started thinking of such a platform.”

These chefs from different restaurants, paying guests accomodations and guest houses are selected after a trial with the company.  Ajay says,  “We check their basic skills and also verify their background details before listing them on the platform. Their identities, addresses are verified. Police verification is also done.”

These chefs can be hired on a daily or monthly basis. You could opt for a subscription model too for 26 days a month. They have an off on Sundays. So, on lazy Sundays, you can instead get them on an hour basis which would cost Rs 250 for middle-level chef and Rs 750 for a high-level chef. You need not worry about going to the market and shopping for your groceries. The chefs shop for you as well.

You can then provide feedback instantly on the app and rate them on the basis of their skills and hygiene.

This can be accessed by the chefs to review themselves and also to connect with their next destination. The feedback will be evaluated.

“If a chef gets 3 stars out of 5, over a period of time, he will be removed from the platform,” adds Ajay.

There are currently 80 chefs on the platform which is operational in six areas in and around HSR Layout in the city. Next month, they will start operating in Koramangala and Indira Nagar.

Until January 2016, Cookifi has received more than a 1,000 customer enquiries and have been organising 50 cooking session per day.
