BENGALURU: If you enjoy listening to Kannada songs but are away from Karnataka, here is a good news. For the first time ever, there will be an online Kannada radio channel playing Kannada songs 24X7. Namm Radio mobile application is also available.
The channel, Namm Radio, is started by like-minded radio lovers under Pastime Production Private Limited (PPPL), which is set to launch on Sunday.
R Asha Viswanath, co-founder of PPPL and creative director of Namm Radio told Express that they have been on trial for the past one month. “During this period, we reached more than 40,000 listeners from 57 countries,” she said.
Asha said Namm Radio is a full fledged radio channel that will play a variety of Kannada songs from cinema, devotional, light music to folk. Even interviews of noted Kannada writers and play writes will be played. In the coming days, many Kannada-related programmes, including plays, will be included. “You can visit www.nammradio.com and also use the mobile app. It is a free app for lifetime for both Android and IOS users,” she said.
At present, they have 18 radio jockeys working for Namm Radio. Asha, who has worked as a radio jockey with Akashvani and also as a voice over artist for more than 23 years, said she was in love with the radio since childhood. “In the last two years, we like-minded people wanted to start a community radio that later turned into online radio, which can be listened to worldwide,” she said.
Namm Radio is planning to tie up with Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) which hosts annual Kannada events in the US every year. “We are planning to send our RJ to host it live for Namm Radio,” she said.
Pastime Production Private Limited is also conducting an in-house training for voice modulation. The training is being imparted by professionals. There is a huge demand for voice over artists, Asha added. For details, mail queries to email@example.com.
