George called all party city MLAs, MLCs and MPs to the meeting on Tuesday and gave a presentation on the steel flyover. The meeting, however, ended in a verbal clash between Congress and Opposition leaders.

While BJP members alleged that the government had taken a unilateral decision  amidst public protest, Congress members retorted they were against development.

At the start of the meeting, Gopalaiah, JD(S) MLA, pointed to Monday’s incident where a woman consumed poison for not being compensated. Gopalaiah demanded that the government pay compensation for all the previous projects first.

Snubbing Gopalaiah, George said that this meeting was to discuss the steel flyover. Irked by this, Gopalaiah walked out.

BJP leader R Ashoka said the meeting called by George and his team was an eyewash.
