BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday launched the Pink Hoysala patrolling vehicles and Suraksha mobile application to address complaints related to women and child safety.
The 51 pink Hoysalas will have at least one woman police officer in the vehicle.

A police source said, “Each of these 51 Hoysalas will visit 20 locations and will change their location every hour. So we will cover 1,020 places in 24 hours. We have located a few places in the city where women population is more, especially working women.”

The selected places are near garment factories, IT hubs, places where more foreigners and people from the north-east reside and areas with many pubs, restaurants, schools and colleges.

“Besides, it is not only the pink Hoysalas that will attend to the women in distress. Any Hoysala that is nearby will respond,” a police source said.

After launching the vehicle, Siddaramaiah said that only providing vehicles does not serve the purpose unless police make best use of them to prevent crimes.

“Police officials always need to keep an eye on anti-social elements to curb the crime. It is also necessary to adopt new technology to prevent crimes against women and children.

The government has taken the recent incidents of crimes against women seriously and asked the police to take strict action against those involved in such crimes,” he said.
