Mechanic stages kidnap to avoid going to work 

A 21-year-old mechanic who allegedly staged a kidnap drama to avoid going to work was traced by the Peenya police to Majestic on Sunday. 

BENGALURU: A 21-year-old mechanic who allegedly staged a kidnap drama to avoid going to work was traced by the Peenya police to Majestic on Sunday. 


Police said Maruthi, a resident of Sandur in Ballari, lived with his uncle. On Friday, he called his uncle from his mobile phone and told him that he had been kidnapped by a five-member gang while returning from an ATM kiosk. Soon after the call, Maruthi’s uncle called the police and informed them about the ‘kidnap’. 


Police tried to trace his location through his mobile phone but it was switched off. Based on a tip, police later traced him to Majestic and handed him over to his family after a warning.  


A police official said, “He was not good at studies. His family felt he would fall into bad company and they sent him to live with his uncle in Peenya.”


He added, “His uncle managed to get him a job as a mechanic in a factory. But Maruthi was not keen on going for work.”  


History sheeter stabbed to death in auto
A 30-year-old history sheeter was stabbed to death while he was asleep in his auto at KR Puram Main Road on Sunday night. An old rivalry is said to be the motive.

The deceased, identified as Ramesh alias Dumma. According to the police, Ramesh was sleeping when a gang of unidentified men attacked him and fled.
