BENGALURU: The wife of murdered Bengaluru financier, G Kumar, and two other men were arrested by police on Wednesday in connection with his murder on April 6. Doreen Kumar, who was fed up of her husband’s womanising ways orchestrated the murder, said Byappanahalli police
Doreen Kumar had given a murder contract to three people to murder Kumar, whose body was found near the railway tracks close to Kalpalli graveyard. Police have arrested Doreen, and Dinesh and Patrick who carried out the murder. Avinash, a third accused is absconding.
Police sources said that Doreen met Sridhar, who had come to the house to pay interest on an amount loaned by Kumar. Doreen requested him to arrange for someone to kill her husband as she was fed up of his behaviour.
Sridhar put her in touch with the other accused who agreed to do the job for an advance of Rs 2 lakh, and Rs 28 lakh after the deed was done. In April, Doreen paid the trio Rs 1.4 lakh as advance.
Police said it was found during investigation that a woman named Clara had called Kumar a few minutes before his murder. Further interrogation revealed that Clara had been introduced to Kumar on the pretext of asking for a loan to pay her children’s school fee. Her job was to ensure that Kumar arrived near the railway gate, where he was later killed by the accused.
During interrogation, Doreen Kumar said she had been married to Kumar, an alcoholic for 12 years. "Doreen said he used to bring other women to the house as well. Most of the women whom he used to bring home were those he had given loans to. When she objected to this, Kumar used to physically assault her. He would also verbally abuse his daughter and beat her too," a police official said.
