The decision comes a day after Nagaraj in a video released on Saturday, accused police officers of hoarding demonetised currency in his house. Nagaraj levelled allegations against Srinivas, an inspector at Hennur police station, of filing a false case of kidnap and extortion against him. He also used obscene language to abuse the inspector in the video.

A senior police official said, “He (Nagaraj) has used language which is filthy and demeaning, which is why we have considered taking up a suo motu case, which we will ask Srinivas to register. A fresh case will be filed against Nagaraj within a couple of days.” If booked, Naga is likely to be charged under Sections 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and other sections of the IPC.

Nagaraj had gone underground after Rs 14.8 crore in demonetised notes were recovered from his office/residence during a raid on April 14. In the video, he also accuses CM Siddaramaiah’s personal assistant Manjunath, KPCC Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao, BJP MP P C Mohan and unnamed IPS officers of being part of a conspiracy to fix him.
