Fancy up and turn into a ‘chic’ homemaker

Neomi Meyn will hold a workshop to help homemakers regain their confidence.

BENGALURU: About nine years ago, when Neomi Meyn had her first child she left her job as a softskills trainer. Being a committed full-time home-maker she prioritised everything else except herself. Today she is a certified Image consultant from Image Consulting Business Institute (ICBI) and is going to conduct a first-time workshop for homemakers to work on their self-image on May 27. The workshop is titled ‘The Chic Homemaker’.

Neomi is going to talk about her personal experiences. “You see homemakers have a very low self-esteem. They compare themselves to other women who work, and feel that they don’t deserve to dress as fancy as them or do things that others do,” Neomi shares. “My workshop is to tackle this misconception,” she says.

The idea for this workshop dawned on Neomi five years ago when she was pursuing her year’s course at ICBI. It was then she realised that she had forgotten to be who she used to be. She altered her lifestyle and returned to her previous self to transform herself into a chic homemaker.

Start with Dressing Well

How did she do that? She started by dressing prim and proper and ensuring that her hair is done right. “Doing this also made me lose a lot of stress,” Neomi laughs. In no time, her confidence was back.

Her two-and-a-half-hour long talk on image building will highlight the importance of dressing and styling to build confidence. She feels that most homemakers buy clothes only to fill the wardrobes without considering how it will look eventually. “You know it’s okay to buy skimpy clothes. If XS and Small don’t work then there are other options where you can still rock that dress you like,” she suggests.

She will also demonstrate about five different hairstyles that you can try. “Why do we cut our hair and then go back to the old routine after a few days?” she questions. Playing with hair styles and hair colours can do wonders for self image.

A few weeks ago, Neomi did a rehearsal of her upcoming programme and her friends told her not to confine it to just the homemakers. Neomi, a mother of three children, plans to undertake similar image-building workshop for working professionals in June. But first she will talk to the homemakers, share experiences and also suggest options of working from home.

You can contact her at 080411 22250 to be a part of the homemaker workshop.
