BENGALURU: A few Bengalureans have come together to generate curated positive content in Kannada and channel it among masses through an app.

Named Dindima – adapted from Jananapeetha Awardee Kuvempu’s song Baarisu kannada dindimava poem – the app delivers quick readable and watchable content in Kannada for the readers.

The volunteers curate and share content and videos that they have found interesting in the day.
It offers nuggets and interesting topics of a wide range, from technology, science, business and movies to politics, all in Kannada.

The app, brainchild of nine youngsters- Mahabaleshwar Bhat, Harsha Bhat, Manjunath Bhat, Sharath Hegde, Varun Kumbheshwar, Ranganath, Sneha, Divya Puranik and Darshan – has already seen 15,000 downloads.

“There isn’t too much curated Kannada content online. Finding good Kannada content online is very difficult. Many people often feel that the content is often biased, or junk. That’s when I discussed the app with my friends and family, and the Dindima app was created,” says Mahabaleshwar Bhat, one of the founders of the app.

“We keep the content sharp and crisp. If a person is spending five minutes on our app, we ensure that the five minutes is ‘well spent’. As of now we are getting around 25,000 impressions daily,” Bhat says.

“Right now there are 20 contributors. Though we invite people to write, we make sure we scrutinise what they have sent and upload only positive content in our app,” he adds.

The team is now planning to make a video on 50 unsung heroes of Karnataka and is busy doing the groundwork.
