BENGALURU: Gujarat Congress MLA and spokesperson of 44 MLAs lodged at Eagleton Resort, Shaktisinh Gohil, requested the Supreme Court to take suo moto action and send a sitting judge of the Court to the resort following raids by Income Tax department on energy minister D K Shivakumar.

Gohil, addressing the media outside the resort, said that even if the I-T department had anything against Shivakumar, the timing of the raids was suspect. He said that the minister hadn't murdered anyone to warrant raids like this, and had been a businessman for 30 years. He added that the IT dept could have waited for a few days for the Gujarat MLAs to return before performing their duties.

"When the man who gave us shelter can be subjected to raids, then the common man will be afraid to even ask for a glass of water." Gohil said

He said the BJP's message was loud and clear, that they could do this even in a state where their government wasn't in power. He said the Gujarat MLAs were scared due to gunmen roaming in the resort's lobby. However, he said the MLAs' morale was even higher than before, and they were in a fight to save democracy.

Later, in a series of tweets, he said:
