BENGALURU: On Independence Day, feel free to explore and try out new cuisines and meet new people at Food Walk in Koramangala.Founded by Kajal Sharma, this meetup is to explore cuisines of a particular locality by stopping by at different restaurants or cafes, trying your hand at some activities there and chatting with the chefs.

Kajal says, “It’s a culinary tour. We keep an agenda for every tour. We either pick an area and step in to different restaurants in a particular lane or pick a cuisine and try the restaurants that offer it. So, there
will be combinations of different cuisines as well.”

The group gathers in one place and visits some restaurant and also interacts with the chef. Several activities are planned for the participants. She says, “For example, in our tour, we explore Korean snow desserts. So, we will provide all the ingredients such as snow and syrup to the participants.” The participants who will be divided into groups will have to come up with some recipe that is not there on the menu of restuarants they are stopping at. The tasting will be done by chef and diner and the team will be given points.

At the end of the tour, whoever gets the maximum points, will win a prize. She adds, “It’s like the TV show Khataron ke Khiladi where they give points for each activity. We do the same but,
with food.”

A meetup is organised once every 15 days going by the responses from the participants and also restaurants. She says, “We don’t want to disturb the kitchen operations. We also want to see how comfortable participants are to go for food walks on weekdays or weekends.”
Being from restaurant marketing background, the trend and responses from customers have always been her interest. She says, “The tours will only be about food. We will give feedback form to the
participants to decide on what their expectations were and how did they find the food to be.”
She’s also planning for a chocolate factory tour and wine tasting tour. “There are no limitations on the number of participants. More the number, more the fun,” she says.
A Food Walk will be held on August 15 at Koramangala from 9 am. To register, log on to Meetup or contact Kajal Sharma on 90351 55500.
