BENGALURU: Over 2,000 visitors thronged the BDA Head Office at Guttahalli where an ‘across the table’ scheme for allotment of BDA flats was launched for the first time on Friday. By the end of the day, 50 families were given provisional allotment of a BDA flat.

While 2705 flats are up for sale in Valagerahalli, Alur, Malagala, Kaniminike, Komaghatta and Doddabahanalli, 256 individuals purchased applications needed to buy the flats on Friday.
For the families who qualified and were assigned a flat number along with an acknowledgement letter which stated the provisional allotment letter will be dispatched shortly, it was an incredible dream come true. Businessman Sanjeev Kumar and wife Bobby Kumari, a teacher, availed leave on Friday to give a shot at becoming owners of a BDA flat. Both could not stop smiling when they left the place as owners of No. 707, a 2BHK flat at Malagala. There were many such stories. Hundreds also came just to make inquiries.

BDA Commissioner Rakesh Singh said, “We expected a good response. But this was much better.” With holidays on weekend, the bookings will continue on Monday.

Early birds attribute it to God
Bhagyalakshmi Olekal and her husband Suresh Gowda could not believe their good luck when they became the first family to be handed the number of their flat. They were assigned flat B-1-106, a 2BHK flat at Malagale.
