BENGALURU: In a road rage incident, Gururaj (31), elder son of actor-politician Jaggesh and an actor himself, was stabbed by a man in the thigh on Monday. The incident occurred around 8.30am while Gururaj was on his way to drop his son at a play school in RT Nagar. The assailant Shivashankar is absconding.
Police sources said that Gururaj, a resident of Malleswaram , was i n his Skoda car . As he was driving on Matadahalli R oad near Controllerate of Quality Assurance Electronic Defence Center , a speeding Swift Dzire car brushed against his vehicle and moved ahead. Gururaj chased the vehicle and stopped it. A heated argument ensued between him and the other driver. They started pushing each othe r, claiming to be linked to influential people. Suddenly, Shivashankar took a dagger from his car and tried to stab Gururaj in the stomach. Since Gururaj was skilled in martial arts, he was able to deflect the knife and it pierced his left thigh.
The assailant managed to escape while an injured Gururaj drove his car to the police station and later to a private hospital. Later, both Gururaj and his father Jaggesh said eyewitnesses did nothing to help Gururai as he lay injured on the road.
After verifying CCTV footage , police identified the assailant as Shivashankar. According to documents, the car belongs to one Sulochana Krishnegowda, a resident of Hebbal. Gururaj told police that he never seen the assailant earlier.
