Autorickshaw driver stabbed to death by 2 friends

A 27-year-old autorickshaw driver was stabbed to death by two of his friends at Pulakeshinagar on Saturday night.

BENGALURU: A 27-year-old auto rickshaw driver was stabbed to death by two of his friends at Pulakeshinagar on Saturday night. The motive for the murder is yet to be ascertained. The assailants are still at large.The deceased has been identified Azharuddin, a resident of Kalasipalya, and survived by his wife and a daughter.

Police said that the incident took place around 11.30pm. Azharuddin, along with two friends, had come to Shivajinagar. The trio hired an auto to reach Pulakeshinagar. On the way, auto driver Babu went to a medical store to buy medicines as he was unwell. When he returned, he found Azharuddin lying in a pool of blood. Babu rushed him to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. His friends had fled the scene after quarrelling with him inside the auto. Both stabbed him repeatedly over an issue, according to police.

Pulakeshinagar police were alerted about the incident and then the body was shifted to Bowring hospital for postmortem.Babu told police that at Shivajinagar, Azharuddin was forced to sit inside the auto and throughout the ride they were quarreling over an issue.
Azharuddin’s family gave a statement to the police that he had no rivalry with anyone or had any dispute over anything.

Police have not found any CCTV footage. “Azharuddin was not using mobile phone when he left the house. Thus we are verifying phone call records to get clues about the suspects and further investigations are on,” police added.
