BENGALURU: A 24-year-old senior software developer of a private firm was stabbed by unknown miscreants in full public view on Race Course Road around 9.30pm on Friday. But none came to his help.

The victim Sathish P also works with Shiksha IAS Academy, a private institute.

Sathish was scheduled to leave for Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh in a private bus. He came to Anand Rao Circle in a minibus, which provides shuttle service from HSR Layout.

When he got down from the mini bus and started walking towards the bus bound for Chittoor, three people blocked his way. Assuming that he had come in a car, they threatened him to get into the car at knifepoint.

When Satish told them that he does not have a car, they took him to a spot near an automobile showroom and stabbed him in the chest, stomach and private parts. They hit him on his head with some tiles lying around and fled the spot, according to police.

Later, passersby, who saw Sathish lying in a pool of blood, rushed him to a hospital nearby. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Jayanagar.

Police officials refuted the mugging angle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attackers were known to the victim and it might be an act of vengeance.

Police said that they have procured CCTV footage and investigation is under way. Though Sathish has claimed that he did not know the attackers, police suspect they knew each other.

Police have registered a case under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

When Express contacted Shiksha IAS Academy, they confirmed about Sathish being attacked and said that he was out of danger and asked the reporter to call them after an hour. When Express contacted them again, they denied any knowledge of the incident.
