BENGALURU: The issue of appointment of a full-time vice-chancellor for Rajiv Gandhi University of Health  Sciences (RGUHS), which has been pending since July, witnessed some movement on Friday.
Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil, who held a meeting with the department officials, has asked them to do a background verification of the three candidates whose names have been  recommended by the search committee for the post. Patil told Express, “It is under process and the file will be sent to the governor through the Chief Minister soon.”

The search committee, which met in August, recommended the names of Dr B Krishnamurthy, Director MMC & RI, Mysuru, Dr Sachidanand, Director, Medical Education Department, and Dr Harasoor, retired Director of Medical Education Department, for the V-C’s post.

There was a demand from certain quarters to hold a meeting of the search committee afresh and get new recommendations. But the minister clearly said, “There is no question of conducting another meeting. The appointment will be made soon from among the names recommended by the search committee which are before the government.”
