BENGALURU: IN an incident that has left the police clueless, a vegetable vendor was hacked to death by an unidentified person at KR Market around 12.30 am on Sunday. The deceased is Srinivas (36), alias Kottambari Seena, a resident of Chamrajpet, who sold coriander at the market. According to police, Srinivas was murdered at the spot where he usually sold his wares everyday.

Due to the late hour, there was no one else at the spot. An official said this is usually the time when vegetables arrive in the market from the villages, which vendors buy. An official said Srinivas was attacked with a weapon after which the killer escaped. Just a few minutes after the incident, Srinivas’ body was discovered by other vendors, who alerted his brother Harish, who in turn informed the police. The weapon used has not been recovered, but the official said it was probably a long machete. Till Sunday evening, police said they did not have any leads on either the motive of the crime or the identity of the killer.
