BENGALURU: A 17-year-old girl from the city was rescued from a prostitution racket in New Delhi and brought here on Friday. Police have arrested three men on charges of human trafficking.
Shivashankar (40) from Kolar, Chotu Ramdin (40) and Rajesh Kumar (30), both from Delhi were the arrested. Another accused, a woman named Kajal, is absconding.

Police said the girl’s mother had lodged a complaint six months ago stating that her daughter went missing from Marathalli. Suspecting a case of kidnapping, a police team launched a search for her in Andhra Pradesh, her native state, but could not find her.

Recently, they achieved a breakthrough when investigating officer Sub-Inspector Guruprasad got information that a resident of Kolar had lured the girl by promising her a job in Delhi, with a salary of `15,000 per month.

The girl had passed Class 7, and carried out odd jobs to earn a living here. Guruprasad then found that Shivashankar, one of the arrested persons, had sold the girl to two men named Chotu Ramdin and Rajesh Kumar in Delhi for `70,000. Kajal, another accused, had helped them move the girl to Delhi.

The girl was taken to a red-light area in GB Street near Ajmer Gate in Delhi. Marathalli police personnel traced the girl and rescued her.
