BENGALURU: Mohammed Hisamuddin and Rahul Ramesh were strangers a couple of years back. Both were running their own companies until one day they decided to begin a startup to tackle an issue of local importance. Having realised that education is one of the most dynamic sectors, the duo set out to create an edtech startup. These strangers, in pursuit of a common dream finally met in March 2015 through a mutual friend and that was how Entri took birth.

So, what is Entri all about? Based at Kakkanad at Kochi, entri is an edtech startup. “We are passionate about accessible education. We make learning less stressful and more fun,” says the site. The platform is now connected with many entrance coaching institutes and students. The 13-member team works relentlessly to satisfy the needs of medical and engineering entrance aspirant. “We began with a very basic product. According to user reviews and experiences we fine-tuned the product to reach the current status,” says co-founder and CEO of the company Mohammed Hisamuddin.

The team has successfully created an education app that focuses on entrance exam preparation.  The course structure is designed by a team of more than 60 experts. The app provides more than 50,000 questions and helps the student to improve in his or her weaker areas. The adaptive technology finds out the weaker areas of each student, provides them with more questions in that particular area. This not just helps in the scholastic improvement but step by step builds the confidence of the student. After each test a performance report and analysis is generated this helps the students to assess themselves.

The app also intimates the parent about the improvement of the kids’ performance doubts in the course modules could be cleared through the Q and A forum, wherein students would be provided with answers from the subject experts.

“Knowing our own mistakes and correcting them is the key to success. Entri provides that. I am sure it will help you just like a coaching centre,” says Habeeb Noufal, a student, when asked about the entri experience. He was ranked 419 in All India Institute of Medical Science’s entrance examination.

Team Entri is on cloud nine. Adding another feather to its cap, this startup has been selected for the three-month programme of Boston based edtech accelerator “Learn Launch”.  Learn Launch Accelerator is one among the top eight and provides the most promising edtech startup worldwide with seed funding, an unmatched team of mentors, intensive coaching, and all the tools needed to grow a successful edtech startup. Well, entri is one among the selected; more precisely, the only one from the country to get into the list. The accelerator programme, which kickstarts in April is expected to promote the growth of this startup.

Previously, Entri was selected as one among the “Top 10 emerging edtech companies in India” by Educational experts of Pearson Learning and S Chand Publishers. They also reached the final round of Ycombinator’s startup accelerator programme. “The programme would give us access to almost 30,000 educational institutes and 150 edtech investors who are connected with learn launch. This would help us to boost the programme,” says Hisamuddin.

Two years since its inception, Entri is expanding its focus area to PSC exams. The module which will provide with weekly tests is likely to help many aspirants. The initial 50 quizzes are provided for free. Later, unlimited quizzes can be taken for a minimal amount. Entri is also providing its services for free for selected financially backward students.
