Police said, six months ago, Vinay, claiming himself to be a web designer residing in Bengaluru, sent a friend request on Facebook to the complainant, which she accepted. Later, he started to chat with her over Facebook.  Over a period of time, and playing with her emotions, he elicited information about her and got her to share her photos with him.

Later, Vinay demanded for sexual favours. When the woman refused, he started blackmailing her saying he had screenshots of their conversations and her photos and would send them to her husband and children. The woman then filed a complaint with Bagalur police.

The police, who picked up Vinay from Idagunji, were shocked to know that he had threatened many women in the same way. They said, “He had three Facebook accounts and all were in the same name (Vinay Nayak).”
He would chat the whole day

“He spent most of his time chatting with women on Facebook. To substantiate it, during investigations we found out that he would start chatting with different women around 10 am and would stop only at 4 am the next day,” said police.
