BENGALURU: Dr Chinnappa Gowda, vice-chancellor of Karnataka Janapada University in Haveri, tendered his resignation from the position on Thursday.
A source in Raj Bhavan told Express that the resignation has been accepted by Governor Vajubhai Vala. Though Dr Chinnappa Gowda has not mentioned any reason for the submission of resignation, the source said the call was made following the recent sexual harassment allegation against assistant registrar of the University.
Few months ago a video was leaked to media where the assistant registrar of the Janapada or Folklore University was seen allegedly sexually harassing some girl students of the university.
An inquiry into the incident was ordered by higher education department of the state government.
