6.58 lakh students to write PU II exam this yr

The Department of Pre University Education (PUE) is all set to conduct the final examinations for PU II classes courses at various examination centres across the state from March 9.

BENGALURU: The Department of Pre University Education (PUE) is all set to conduct the final examinations for PU II classes courses at various examination centres across the state from March 9.
This year, 6.58 lakh students will appear for the final examinations of which 1.5 lakh are repeaters and 30,000 are private candidates. Considering the series of malpractices reported last year, including question paper leaks, the department has decided not to allow students to write the exams at their own colleges.

“There will be random changes in distributing candidates. In cases where the college is identified as an exam centre, students of that college will be allotted to a nearby centre. This is to avoid malpractice,” said a senior official of the department.
Meanwhile, most exam centres are yet to install CCTV cameras, which is mandatory from this year. As per the information available from the department, over 235 examination centres haven’t installed CCTV cameras. “The two deadlines given by us to install CCTV cameras at exam centres are over. We will wait for a week and if they fail to comply, we will cancel such centres,” the official said. ENS
