Lokayukta SP dies in freak road accident

A 34-year-old Superintendent of Police attached to the Mysuru Lokayukta died in a freak road accident near Raja Rajeshwari Dental College in Bengaluru on Wednesday night.

BENGALURU: A 34-year-old Superintendent of Police attached to the Mysuru Lokayukta died in a freak road accident near Raja Rajeshwari Dental College in Bengaluru on Wednesday night.

The victim, Ravi Kumar, was travelling towards Mysuru in his official Swift Dzire car when the accident occurred. His driver Kiran, from the Mysuru city armed reserve force, too died in the accident.
According to an eye-witness, an oncoming 10-wheeler truck hit the road divider, crossed over, landed on the other side and rammed into the car head-on.

Kumbalgodu police reached the spot and immediately shifted Kumar to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. He had suffered major injuries.
The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Kumar is survived by his wife and a week-old child.
