BENGALURU: No molestation incident took place in K G Halli, according to the police. Both the accused and the complainant were in love with each other and they had stage-managed the molestation drama together to deceive their parents.

K G Halli police on Sunday arrested a 34-year-old private company employee over the alleged molestation case, which was reported a week back. Investigations revealed that the accused and the complainant, who is his sister-in-law, had planned the molestation incident hoping that her parents may agree to their marriage, thinking that no one would marry the complainant following the ‘sexual assault’.

The accused has been identified as Irshad Khan, resident of Govindapura in K G Halli. He works as a sales executive with a private company while the complainant works with an online food and grocery store. Irshad hails from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and got married six years ago. His wife works in an MNC bank and the couple have a daughter. All of them were living together for the last two years.

A senior officer from KG Halli police station said that Irshad and the complainant were inspired by the Kammanahalli molestation case. They repeatedly watched its coverage.  As a part of the probe into the K G Halli incident, police analysed the CCTV footage. It was found that the suspect was limping and dragging his left leg. When Irshad visited the police station, his walking style was very similar to that of the suspect who had followed the woman. They also took phone call details of the accused and the woman and found that they have had several conversations before the incident. Khan was taken into custody and when he was interrogated, he confessed that he was in love with his sister-in-law for the last four years. Both of them were planning to get married.

He married the complainant’s elder sister a few years ago and the complainant’s parents were searching for a suitable groom for her too.  The accused had called the complainant more than 200 times. The woman had complained to cops that an unidentified man followed her when she was heading towards home. He also tried to kiss her after hugging and in a bid of escape, she bit her tongue, she said. She also claimed that her leg was injured after being pushed by the accused.

The complainant is yet to be interrogated. No molestation incident took place in K G Halli, according to the police. Both the accused and the complainant were in love with each other and they had stage-managed the molestation drama together to deceive their parents.
