BENGALURU: A group of girls from YuvaLok High school in Hennur are taking stock and identifying various issues affecting their localities. They have even sketched out solutions. The students are residents of Bagalur, a semi-urban slum near Lingarajapuram.

As many as 26 girls from the school have been divided into five groups to identify the issues. The students came up with solution with the help of technology.

The four issues identified by the students were solutions for women’s health and safety – over-crowding in cities, potable water, effective  garbage disposal and sewage systems. All the groups have written down their observations, illustrations and paintings in a website.

On one occasion, the girls walked the streets of the locality and observed that they were not able to find many women and girls on the street since they afraid to go out alone. The girls presented a skit with regard to the issue which gave basic awareness to one and all on how to handle such issues.
