BENGALURU: The three-day cultural fiesta at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) titled ‘Umaad 2017’ will be held from January 27 to29. The event is expected to witness participation from over 200 colleges from different parts of the country. The festival includes performances by artistes such as Jonita Gandhi, Divya

Kumar and Indian rock bands — Agam and The Local Train. The theme of the festival this year is ‘The Island of Dreams’. The last day of the festival called the ‘Pronite’ by the organisers will open with a stand-up comedy act by Zakir Khan and end with a musical performance by Amit Trivedi.

The institute will also host a bike stunt show and a performance by theatre artiste Shilpi Marwaha on women activism which extends to 60 minutes.  “All the events are free except for the Amit Trivedi show. The tickets are available on bookmyshow.com,” says Naveen, Cultural secretary of Umaad 2017.

The prize money is approximately Rs 11.5 lakhs for over 35 events overall.  Naveen says Umaad has gone international this time with their ‘World Cultural Fiesta’ involving global artistes.

Canadian metal band  All Else Fails and Portugese jazz performer Nuno Marinho and street musician Till Sunday Pirate who formed the One Man Didgeridoo Band, will be performing.

“We have free registration on a first-come-first-serve basis. We are also doing an organ donation drive. This is in collaboration with Gift Your Organ foundation and Apollo hospitals. We have taken this organ donation drive very seriously,” informs Naveen.
