BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which has started its electoral enrolment drive this month, is focussing on first time voters, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Prasad said that as on January 1, there were 84.97 lakh voters in BBMP limits.

“This time we are focusing on first time voters who are aged between 18 and 19 years. We have identified 27,500 young voters who are studying in colleges. We are organising special camps in pre-university colleges and enrolling them to the voters’ list,’’ he said. Also, names of at least 65,000 deceased people will be removed from the voters list.

On the inclusion of Bangladeshis in the voters’ list, the commissioner said that they are aware of this and added, “We are identifying them and will remove their names at the earliest.”
