A 22-year-old woman has been booked for allegedly hitting a traffic constable with her slipper after he tried to stop her two-wheeler from passing behind the convoy of the Vice-President on Queens Roa

BENGALURU: A 22-year-old woman has been booked for allegedly hitting a traffic constable with her slipper after he tried to stop her two-wheeler from passing behind the convoy of the Vice-President on Queens Road.

The accused is Sarika, a graduate student. The incident took place on June 12 when Venkatesh, attached with K G Halli traffic police station, was on duty on Queens Road. Venkatesh stopped her two-wheeler for the passage of the convoys of Vice-President Hameed Ansari and the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, police said.

Both were in the city to release a commemorative publication of the National Herald.
In his complaint Venkatesh said he asked the woman to stop her vehicle but she continued to follow the VIP convoys. When he tried to flag down her vehicle, she lost control over the two-wheeler and hit a barricade and allegedly abused him and hit him with her slippers on his left cheek. Women police personnel were present there, he added.
