Online abuser held at Bengaluru airport soon after entering country from Dubai

BENGALURU: Almost one-and-half years after posting abusive comments against a columnist on Facebook, a youth was arrested at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) as soon as he landed in India on Monday.

According to police, the arrested is Madhusudhan Gowda, a native of Tumakuru who worked in Dubai as an electrician.

In October 2015, Chetana Theerthahalli had filed complaint in Hanumanth Nagar police station against a person who allegedly posted derogatory comments on her Facebook page.

Police said Gowda had posted the comments when he was in Dubai and had not returned to India since then. “We got information that Madhusudhan Gowda was coming to India on Monday. We reached KIA and waited for him and as soon he walked out,  we arrested him,” they said.

In her complaint, Chetana had stated that she had four Facebook accounts and Gowda posted derogatory comments on one of them. She added that there were two Facebook accounts in the name of two organisations which also posted comments in foul language.

A fake Facebook account was also created in her name where miscreants had updated the timeline with unconstitutional words, the complaint said.

The comments were made after Chethana posted about a protest against banning consumption of beef, that was held in Town Hall then. She had also posted a few photos of the event.
