Man held in Bengaluru for rape bid on step-daughter

Bellandur police on Friday arrested a martial arts trainer on charges of attempting to rape his 14-year-old step-daughter.

BENGALURU: Bellandur police on Friday arrested a martial arts trainer on charges of attempting to rape his 14-year-old step-daughter. The arrested Ramraj has been booked under the POCSO Act and remanded to judicial custody. The victim is a Class 8 student at a private school.

According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when the girl was alone at home. Ramraj attempted to sexually assault her, but she managed to escape and stayed at her neighbour’s house, police said.  She revealed about the incident to her mother, a garment factory employee, when she returned home from work. he mother then approached the police. Ramraj had married his second wife a few years ago after his first wife left him over a family dispute.
