BENGALURU: Basavana Gouda Badarli, nephew of Congress MLA from Sindhanur Hampana Gouda Badarli, has been elected president of the state Youth Congress. Badarli defeated his nearest rival K Kemparaju by over 11,000 votes in the election held between May 14 and 17.
Kemparaju, Amruth Raj Gowda and R Rajendra, son of MLA K N Rajanna have been elected vice-presidents. Sumaiya Tabrez was elected vice-president for the women members.
New KPCC president by month-end
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee too is set to get a new president by this month-end.“The Congress high command will take a decision soon on appointing the new president. It is likely to happen before this month-end,” CM Siddaramaiah said here on Sunday.
He added, Congress will return to power and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa’s ‘Mission 150’ will remain a daydream.
