BENGALURU: Evening showers lashed the city on Monday and brought traffic to a halt on major roads. Pedestrians were seen wading through knee-deep water on Ballari Road. Vehicles were stuck in traffic snarls as roads were flooded.Around 9.30pm, rains accompanied by lightning and thunder was recorded in the city. Rainfall was widespread in Bengaluru Urban district, with moderate rainfall measuring 7.5mm to 35.5mm recorded as of 11pm.

The Central Business District received around 35mm rainfall. Rajajinagar received 28.5mm, RR Nagar 17.5mm, Dayananda Nagar 27mm and Jnana Bharathi 18mm. 

Traffic was hit in Jayanagar, Majestic, Ballari Road, Malleswaram, Anand Rao Circle, Mekhri Circle, Hebbal, Rajajinagar, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, Bommanahalli, Bellandur, Corporation Circle, Varthur, Marathahalli, Pulikeshinagar, Shivananda Circle, MG Road, KR Puram, Nagawara, Attiguppe, Chamarajpet, Binnypet and Mysuru Road.

Power supply was interrupted in many places as electricity poles fell down in the rain.  
According to BBMP, three trees were uprooted in Basaveshwaranagar, one on Chord Road and one in Vijayanagar.

Across the state, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Haveri districts too received rainfall on Monday. Chamarajanagar alone received 79mm rainfall.

An official of Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre said that rainfall is likely to continue for the next five days in many parts of the state.
