BENGALURU: Over 100 lithographs, advertisements and prints from the exhibition Royal Lithography and Legacy, a collection of lithographs from paintings by Raja Ravi Varma can be viewed online on Google Arts & Culture app and platform by people around the world.

These can now be viewed in high definition with gigapixel technology. The technology uses Google Arts & Culture’s custom built device to take hundreds of close-up images, then stitch them together to create an intensely detailed whole which can enable the highest ever resolution image to be captured. Viewers can explore 60 rare lithographs in detail with zoom technology.

With the help of indoor 360º panoramic imaging, online visitors will be able to virtually walk through the exhibition that was temporarily held in Gallery g, Bengaluru. Gitanjali Maini, CEO of the Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation, said, “Showcasing this rare collection of lithographs that belong to art connoisseur Ganesh V Shivaswamy, we hope to significantly contribute to the arts community.”

Simon Rein, programme manager for Google Arts and Culture, said, “We digitised the original lithographs. With the Google Arts & Culture, they are at your fingertips to discover and explore.”
