BENGALURU: A group of parents gathered in front of the Delhi Public School  (East) in the city on Friday morning to protest against “speeding school buses”.

The parents wanted to speak to the principal following a series of accidents recently wherein children escaped with minor injuries. “When we demanded to speak to the principal, they said she was not available and insisted that we disperse as fresh admissions were going on,” said one of the parents.
The parents alleged that the school has violated CBSE norms regarding transportation. According to them, the buses used for school transportation do not have speed governors. “Once, one of the parents followed the school bus and recorded that it was speeding over 40 kmph,” one of the protesters said.

The parents have decided to take up the issue with the HRD Minister. “We are meeting the management members in the first week of December to discuss this,” another parent said. When contacted, Mansoor Ali Khan, board member of DPS, said, “All our school buses have been well equipped with CCTVs and speed governors. There is no such violation. One unfortunate incident occurred recently and not four or five as claimed by the parents.”
