‘Stories are great medium for learning’

BENGALURU: The sessions are all about getting people to share their perspectives. I, being a moderator, with a set topic, start on with storytelling, which mostly includes relatable stories and then the people, in the session join in for a discussion. People who initially do not wish to share their opinions, can later be found engrossed in the discussion, agreeing or disagreeing with others and hence, voicing their take,” he says.

ATOL host discussions on concepts related to life such as relationships and perception to tackling failure, decoding emotions, barriers in thinking, building connections, decision making, managing expectations and handling pressure.

“ATOL believes in the power of personal stories and experiences as a medium to learn, unlearn and broaden one’s perspective towards life. It is sometimes in another person’s story or thought that we may find an answer to many of our life’s questions,” adds Dirish.“It’s lovely to see people come together to share their stories, experiences that have shaped them and in the process bring new perspectives to each other’s life – or as we say, we hope they have their own take on life,” he says.

More than 15 sessions have been organised till date and after Bengaluru, Dirish now wants to take it to Kochi. He has a event on ‘Managing Expectations’ lined up for this weekend in Kochi. Next session in Bengaluru will be held in March and can be followed up on the official Facebook page A Take On Life. Dirish can be contact at dirish@atakeonlife.com or dirishm@gmail.com.

Many people are invigorated by this experience. Raghunandan Srinivasan, a software engineer, who has attended over 10 sessions, says, “I am very impressed by the way these sessions are conducted. Dirish knows the knack of getting people open up. At the end of the session, there is something for everyone to take away.”
