BENGALURU: A priest and his friend died on the spot after their bike rammed into a goods auto parked in the middle of the road. The incident occurred near Anjanapura Bridge on NICE Road in Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station limits on Sunday night.

The deceased are Prakash (28), a resident of Thirupalya near Hebbagodi, and his friend Anjaneya (24), a resident of Davanagere. Prakash was working as a priest at a temple near his house, while Anjaneya had come to the city seeking a job.

Police said the duo had gone out on Sunday night and were returning home when the accident took place at 11.45pm. While passing near Anjanapura Bridge, Prakash, who was riding the bike, failed to notice a goods auto that was parked in the middle of the road.

As a result, the bike rammed into the vehicle and both the rider and the pillion rider sustained fatal head injuries as both were not wearing a helmet.

“The auto driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped. We are on the lookout for him as the incident occurred due to his negligence,” police said.
