Technical glitch keeps six-car Metro train off tracks

Namma Metro’s six-coach train, which made its maiden commercial run on June 22, was unable to operate on Monday due to a technical glitch that kept it off the tracks from the first run in the morning, scheduled at 8.02 am from Baiyappanahalli towards Mysore Road.

BENGALURU:Namma Metro’s six-coach train, which made its maiden commercial run on June 22, was unable to operate on Monday due to a technical glitch that kept it off the tracks from the first run in the morning, scheduled at 8.02 am from Baiyappanahalli towards Mysore Road.

The train, which saw revised timings only a few days post the beginning of its operations, developed a snag in the braking system which led to it being kept off the tracks till evening when it resumed operations at 5.34 pm.

“The 6 car train could not be inducted today due to technical problem. The fault is being attended to and it will be inducted by this evening. In the meantime 3 car coach inducted in close frequency to manage the Monday rush,” Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Chief Public Relations Officer UA Vasanth Rao tweeted on Monday.

In the meantime, to clear the rush, the regular three-car trains were pressed into short loop services between busy stations. The technical glitch inconvenienced several passengers  who they were seen travelling  inside crammed coaches during the peak hour on the Purple Line.
