BENGALURU: Bangalore Urban District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed the promoter of housing project — Gruha Kalyan — in HSR Layout to refund an advance of Rs 9.50 lakh and pay a compensation of `95,000 in addition to the litigation cost to a man and his daughter.
In 2015, Subba Rao (52) and his daughter from Attiguppe, lured by advertisements in newspapers, contacted Gruha Kalyan’s promoters Majumdhar Shataparni and Siddarth Hunashikatti and booked two flats by paying an advance of Rs 9.50 lakh on different dates. The father and daughter also entered into an MoU in December 2015 and again in September 2016. When there was no sign of promoters constructing any apartment, the father and daughter sought a refund.
When the promoters failed to refund the advance amount, the duo filed a complaint in the urban consumer court in April this year. The forum, declaring Gruha Kalyan’s promoters guilty of deficiency of service, directed them to refund the advance money of `9.50 lakh.
