BENGALURU: A couple ended their lives in the early hours of Monday after they quarrelled over a trivial issue on Sunday late night at their house in Bagalagunte. Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband was upset as his wife would be busy with Facebook most of the time and she was not paying attention to the family.

The deceased are identified as Soumya MS (23) and her husband Anup V (32), both hailing from Somavarapete in Kodagu. Anup was working as an employee in a poultry food manufacturing factory in Peenya while Soumya was a homemaker. The couple has a 3-year-old son Hardik.

A senior police officer said the couple had quarrelled after Anup advised her not to use Facebook. Around 5 am on Monday, he locked Soumya inside the room, while he slept in another room. Around 7.30am, Soumya contacted her elder brother and complained that she was locked inside a room and asked him to come to the house. Around afternoon, Ravichandran came from Somavarapet and repeatedly knocked on the door. When there was no response, he called the neighbours, who broke open the door. Hardik was found crying in a room. They found the bodies of Anup and Soumya hanging in separate rooms and immediately called the Bagalagunte police, who took bodies to the hospital for postmortem.
