Meet Bengaluru’s tiny insta star

What started as fun, has turned seven-year-old Prashvita into a social media sensation

BENGALURU:  Instagram may require users to be at least 13 before opening account, but there are no rules around posting on a child’s behalf – and many parents are cashing in. Though these kids have no idea how social media works, they are already famous there.

One such kid is Bengaluru-based Prashvita — she is all of seven and she has already entered the hall of fame. Her Dubsmash and Musically videos are viral on every available social media platform, especially Instagram. Her videos get an average of one lakh hits on Instagram alone.

The class two girl’s Instagram account, Prashu_hk, which is handled by her parents, already has two fan accounts, apart from the main account. And all this, within just two months. She also has a YouTube account. Also, a lot of Sandalwood actors  follow her and repost her videos.

Prashvita’s father Harikrishna says, “During her summer holidays, her cousin sister dressed her up and asked her to make Musically videos. We did around 12 videos. Every video turned out to be excellent. So we randomly decided to create an account her and it was an instant hit.”

While her mother Jeevitha is in charge of dressing her up for the video, it is her cousin who has trained her to lip-sync perfectly to these videos. Acting, the parents say, has come naturally to her.

Harikrishna says, “It’s just been a month or two and she has honed the skills perfectly. She is a one-take actor. Before making the video, we show her the original video, she keenly observes it and she is all game.” Her latest video from the film Ravichandra, imitating actress Lakshmi, has got over two lakh hits. She can easily imitate all the Sandalwood actors and a dozen Hindi and English actors too.

Harikrishna says they get requests from her fans to make a particular video, which they usually take up and upload. “We are equally surprised and happy that our kid, at a very young age, is this famous. When we go out, people even recognise her and come and speak to her. It is all so new and overwhelming,” he adds.
Prashvita says, “I really enjoy making these videos, and credit my fame to my parents and cousin,” adding that she wants to become a police officer in the future.
