BENGALURU: A 23-year-old woman was smothered to death by her husband at Kaverinagar in Kamakshipalya police limits on Tuesday. Malathi Sahu is the deceased while her husband, Kailash Chandra Behra is absconding. They hailed from Odisha and the couple has a two-and-a-half year old daughter. Kailash worked in a handloom unit while Malathi was working in a private firm.
Police said the couple fought over trivial issues frequently and the house owner had asked them to vacate. On Tuesday evening, they fought over the same issue and engaged in a heated argument. An enraged Kailash allegedly smothered her to death using a pillow and escaped leaving the daughter alone.
“The incident came to light when neighbours went to check after hearing the constant cries of the daughter. They found Malathi dead and alerted us,” a police officer said.
